Health data management: Intersystems information system deployed in a Chinese hospital

TrakCare improves clinical decision-making

An automatic access to patient's health record
For a prescription, for example, TrakCare links the healthcare professional to the patient's electronic medical record, displaying his/her allergy history and previous medication records.
The system also links to a pharmacopoeia, an official publication containing a list of medicinal drugs with their effects and directions for their use, to inform clinicians about indications, contraindications and interactions of each medication.
An alert system to avoid medical errors
It automatically generates safety alerts based on relevant risk factors, such as allergies and the patient age, reducing the need for doctors to check medical records over and over again.
"With TrakCare, we can accurately track the admission of patients, triage, medical treatment, laboratory tests, acquisition of results, and the patient’s departure," said Mr Tan. "This lays a solid foundation for enhancing the quality of the patient journey while achieving operational efficiencies.
